Dr. Mark Lee Shares Cutting-Edge Sales Growth Strategy at Hong Kong Institute of Directors Event
HONG KONG, July 18, 2025 – Dr. Mark Lee, Research Director of the Asia Pacific Institute for Strategy, delivered an inspiring keynote on “Sales Growth Strategy by Value Stick” at a special seminar hosted by the Hong Kong Institute of Directors (HKIoD) on Friday, July 18.
The event was chaired by Professor John Mok, Chairman of the HKIoD SME Committee and Chairman of AML Holdings Limited. Held as part of the Institute’s ongoing effort to equip directors and senior executives with the latest strategic insights, the seminar attracted a full house of corporate leaders from Hong Kong’s SME and listed company sectors.
Dr. Lee introduced the audience to the Value Stick framework, an influential strategy model developed by Professor Felix Oberholzer-Gee of Harvard Business School, which emphasizes maximizing value creation for customers and employees as the foundation for sustainable business growth.
In his address, Dr. Lee explained how companies can grow sales not merely by cutting prices or increasing marketing spend, but by systematically widening the gap between customers' willingness to pay and product cost, and by raising employee satisfaction and retention—two critical levers in today’s talent-constrained and competitive market.
"Sales growth in the AI era is no longer about pushing harder—it's about aligning value creation with what truly matters to customers and your team," said Dr. Lee. He also shared real-world examples from global companies and local SMEs, offering practical strategies that directors can immediately apply to unlock pricing power, strengthen brand equity, and improve team performance.
The engaging presentation sparked lively discussion among participants, with many expressing appreciation for the actionable and thought-provoking insights.
Dr. Lee’s session was part of HKIoD’s ongoing commitment to promote good governance and strategic leadership among directors in Hong Kong’s dynamic business environment.
